Biography

Patrick Romandy-Simmons is a Disney fan and collector since his early childhood: he started very early copying Disney characters from his coloring book. During school he attended art classes, but during his years at High School he only attended the Ceramics classes in his last year.

Romandy-Simmons´ family had not enough money to let him continue his studies and so worked several jobs until he started to work for McCracken Studios in 1986. At McCracken Studios he worked on horror movies like "Nightmare on elm Street" and "Friday the 13th".
In 1989, Romandy Simmons worked for Landmark Entertainment. It was here, that he got the chance to sculpt more cartoony characters. First, he created lifesize figurines for Japanese theme parks and later he shifted his attention to smaller maquettes.

In 1990, Romandy-Simmons received his first freelance assignment from Disney. Disney Consumer Products was developing a new line of high-end collectibles at that time of scenes from famous Disney Classics. He was asked to create Jaq, Gus and Needle mouse for the newly formed Walt Disney Classics Collection. After this assignment he soon signed a contract with Walt Disney Imagineering.

Romandy-Simmons started his career at Walt Disney Imagineering in 1990 (WDI is the company that is responsible for the design of the Disney theme parks and attractions). He created Mickey's Toontown Fountain and the King Triton Fountain, which can be admired both at Disneyland, Califronia.

The grandfather of Romandy-Simmons played the first violin for the Walt Disney Studios Orchestra from 1929 until 1942 and Romandy-Simmons was influenced and inspired by him.
