Biography

Chris Peterson has been familiar with Disney from early on. His aunt worked at Disney as the first woman lay-out artist on Jungle Book, the Disney character Ludwig von Drake and the Goofy shorts. His aunt sent him sketches of the films she was working on at that moment and Peterson studied and copied them and then sent them back to his aunt.

Peterson was also very talented as a child: he entered an art contest and won a scholarship to an art academy (at that time he was only eight years old). When he was 15 years old he worked for his aunt as a production assistant and at age 16 he started to work fulltime at Filmation Studio (he worked on the popular animation television series He-Man). At 19 Peterson started to sculpt, first for Filmation Studio and later as a freelance artist. In 1987, when the animation industry collapsed, Peterson started to work for Applause, Inc. as a sculptor and product designer for licensed products of Disney, Looney Tunes and other companies. In 1989, he left Applause, Inc. and began to work with his wife on designing, sculpting and painting product for Disney Consumer Products, The Disney store and several other toy companies.
