The Webmaster

First, a warm welcome to you all and I hope you'll enjoy surfing this web site. My intention is to make this site contribute to the fun of collecting WDCC.

A brief presentation: my name is Dennis van de Graaf and I was born in Dordrecht (the Netherlands) in 1977.

Today, I am an enthusiastic collector of the Walt Disney Classics Collection, so more about that ...

It all started with ... a sculpture of Lady ("A Perfectly Beautiful Little Lady"). Because having only one sculpture in a large cabinet looked rather empty and lonely, very soon the next sculpture arrived, and the next, and the next and ... well, until this day it has never stopped.

I am often asked whether I have personal favorites and, o course, there are!
My favorite Disney Classic is without a doubt "Sleeping Beauty": I really appreciate the background drawings made by Eyvind Earle, so it is not a total surprise when I tell you Maleficent as Dragon ("Now You Shall Deal With Me") is one of my personal favorites.
Which isn't the only one: the Field Mouse ("Little April Shower"), Old Hag ("Take The Apple, Dearie"), Geppetto´s Workbench ("The Finishing Touch"), Hook, Smee, Tiger Lily & Crocodile ("An Irresistible Lure"), Evil Queen ("Enthroned Evil"), Dew Drop Fairy ("Celebration of Spring"), Monstro, Pinocchio & Geppetto ("Monstro´s Revenge") ... and yes, now I realize that I can continue this almost indefinitely.

When I became totally "obsessed" with collecting, I noticed there wasn't a web site in Dutch about the Walt Disney Classics Collection. With only minimal knowledge of creating websites, but with a large dose of enthusiasm and motivation I decided to fill this void.
The first Get and Collect, WDCC Fansite came online in Februari 2005 and was, I know, quite simple. But it growed and growed and became more pleasant to look at. I made contact with Don "Duckman" Henderson, the man behind wdccducman.com, and he gave me the opportunity to expand my site with all the pictures of sculptures ever produced. You'll understand that this was a great opportunity to make my own web site much more complete. After this, visitor ratings grew and my decision to make it a multilingual site did these numbers rise even further.
After being online for about two years I struggled with the technical maintenance and I decided to completely redesign the web site.
This web site was not only the perfect pastime, but it also helped me to learn all the details of web site creation and I now have my own web design company (for those who may be interested, have a look at www.highlycreativecontent.nl).

Okay, thanks for visiting and happy surfin'!

Dennis
